On Monday, June 22nd, Last Minute Mondays returns with a special one-night dinner inspired by Black foodways, communal storytelling, celebration, preservation, and the spirit of gathering around the table.

Built through the lens of seasonal California produce and the culinary style of Scratch Test Kitchen, this intimate four-seat chef’s counter experience explores smoke, fire, pickling, comfort, migration, memory, and joy through a multi-course vegetarian tasting menu that unfolds in real time.

Expect bold flavors, layered textures, warm conversation, curated music, and a dining experience that feels like a mix of a dinner party, a chef’s diary, and a moment you accidentally discovered.

About the Chef

Chef Dorian Southall is a self-taught chef, Marine Corps veteran, and the founder of Scratch Test Kitchen, an Orange County-based private chef and culinary experience company rooted in storytelling, seasonality, and connection.

A Los Angeles native with Southern roots, Chef Dorian’s cooking draws inspiration from the African diaspora, California produce, Japanese technique, communal dining traditions, and the belief that food should feel both deeply personal and wildly alive. His work has been featured on Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games, Chef’s Roll, and in multiple food and culture publications throughout California.

Through Last Minute Mondays, he invites guests into a more intimate form of dining, one centered around conversation, emotion, memory, and the kind of nights that stay with you long after the last course.

Optional protein supplements and wine pairings will also be available (for purchase) for select courses for guests looking to further customize their experience.
